Terrible News 02/06/2009

Nah, just kidding! We all apologize for not serving everyone with regular updates, things have been pretty tight for everyone. But we're not here to explain why we didn't update the blog for such a long period of time, but to update you instead.

First of all, the project isn't dead and some things have changed.

Redesigning the Engine
We've decided to redesign the engine so it can load games from plain text files, making them highly portable. If we ever wanted to port a game, we would just port the engine without touching the actual game code.

Introduction of the Editor
This editor will allow everyone to modify or create their own RPGs right on their desktops. Since the editor will run on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux, we will be forced to also port the engine to these platforms; you can enjoy the games right on your desktop too.

Conclusion
If the project would had died, there would be a real "Terrible News" blog post. Well that's all for now, hopefully we wont disappear like we previously did.

The idea of creating an rpg editor for the psp has been as long awaited as an RPG for the PSP. This is friggin' awesome! Also, the engine rewrite sounds like a good idea.

As for the blog title, lol.

If you do make this open source, or possibly only provide a barebones engine of this game, it would be extremely helpful to the Homebrew Community.
Keep up the good work!
(And then...maybe, Quinta Essentia 2?)

I, for one, would be ecstatic if, once you are finished, you could release the engine, sans game content as a seperate download. As long as it was documented well, I can see it becoming a real hit

Oh man I'm glad its still alive. I can't wait for this... well... maybe I can, if it means making it really really good. ;)

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but does someone work on this project by the name of "DeveloperZero", or at least used to? He would probably not recognize who I am, but I worked with him on an old project called "Metroid: Net Mission". I went by a different name back then.

Anyway, if he does, can he contact me by email? Or even respond here. Anyway, sorry if this at all spams up this page, etc.
